Shafer record label debuts, hits airwaves with exciting singles

Shafer Records, a brand new top notch record label has opened up its doors to talented actors across Africa. The label was officially launched on 12th October, 2016 as a platform with the mission to scout the “streets” to discover and groom music talents who may not have the resources to pursue their passion. CEO of Shafer Records, Isaiah Oyibo disclosed during the launch that the label intends to produce top artistes with the capabilities to produce good music across Africa which will in turn, influence the lifestyle of its esteemed audience and fans positively. “We are here to give our fans nothing but good music, we preach one love, honesty and unity” ‘Too Much Love’, which was produced by Lugi, is the first collective effort of Shafer Records acts. At the moment, the label is home to multi-talented recording artistes such as, Theory (Samuel Oyibo), Lugi (Utibe Ndah Mackenzie), and Eluku (Lameed Temitayo Lukmon). They have worked with notable Nigerian music industry players such as Vector and Del B, among others. These talented acts in Hip-Hop, Rap, R & B and Soul music have joined forces to create amazing musical experiences which will take Nigeria Music to the next level. The team effort of the label “Too Much Love” is currently enjoying airplay across Nigeria. The label also has an in-house state of the art studio. Shafer Records, which is the brainchild of South African-based entrepreneur, Isaiah Oyibo (Shafer), was founded as a wholly independent music label on February 17th, 2016.

New Music: Pryce Williams – Something You Want

Singer, rapper and songwriter, Pryce Williams is back on the scene with a brand new tune titled ‘Something You Want’ with the music production credits going to Don L37 of L.A.M.P House Studios.

“Something You Want” is a groovy track by the hottest talent in town, Pryce Williams, which will leave you nodding your head to his smooth delivery and danceable beat.

Pryce Williams, a current student of UNILAG, has been in the Music Industry for around 5 years, working his way up the ladder by dropping covers, writing songs for top Musicians and performing in his University.

Singer releases fifth studio album "The Certificate"

Duncan Mighty has released his fifth album "The Certificate".

The album released September 15, 2016 drops under Young Wealth Records.

Accoeding to the singer, the album would encourage people to groom their talents and utilize it instead of engaging in youthful vices.

I don’t take drugs for my energetic performances – Mr 2kay

Mr 2kay is known to be a very energetic performer on stage. This has led to insinuations that the dreadlocks-wearing artiste takes some substances to get high before mounting the stage. He however refuted these claims.”The only thing I take before a performance is food. I neither smoke nor drink, and I don’t do drugs. All I do is pray, and God does the rest for me,” he stated. Speaking on his recent activities, 2kay enthused, “I’m doing a lot of things at the moment. I’m working on my album. I’m also planning to go on an European tour either by September or October. I’ve also been involved in a couple of charity projects as well.” The ‘Who no like better thing’ singer literally blushed while recounting the   massive love he was showered with during his recent homecoming concert in Bonny Island. He exclaimed, “I’ve been out of the homeland for a while, and I decided to come back and do something for my people because they miss me so much. They have also been very supportive, and there was a huge turn-out of guests at the concert. My mentor, Faze, Banky W, Beverly Osu, Uti Nwachukwu, Pencil, Kenny Blaq and other artistes also came through for me. The event was actually organized by NLNG, an oil company that operates in my home town.”

I don’t like listening to my own songs – Monica Ogah

One-time Project Fame winner, Monica Ogah has stated that she doesn’t like listening to her own songs after recording them. According to her, “I don’t have a favourite song out of all my songs because I believe in everything I put out; they all have potentials. However, I don’t like to listen to my songs, because I tend to criticise myself a lot.” On what she’s been up to recently, the busty songstress ventured, “I’ve just been working lately trying to put more singles and videos out there. I do have a couple of special projects though. I’m working with some big names in the industry, and we’ll be shooting a video soon. But I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag by revealing their identities now.” Monica also dismissed claims that there is some sort of rivalry between past Project Fame winners hence their decision not to work together. She quipped, “I’ve worked with Chidinma already. I think we’re all busy, trying to get our acts together right now. There certainly will be collaborations, but it’s not now.”

Maleek Berry returns with “On Fire” & “Kontrol”

Best known for his writing and production on anthems such as “The Matter” with Wizkid, “Baby Hello” by Wande Coal & also executive producing Wande Coal's album, Maleek Berry's new release proves he's more than two dimensional.

Having now established his reputation further after the success of his smash single “For My People” featuring UK rapper Sneakbo. Maleek Berry isn't here to play games.

He returns to the scene with not one but two exhilarating songs “On Fire” and “ Kontrol”, both of which was written and produced by the man himself. “On Fire” which was premiered by The Fader magazine is an interesting fusion of trap and afro-pop melodies, the use of London “twang” and hints of distinct Yoruba can be heard throughout this masterpiece.

The catchy record has an energetic hook with Berry expressing the feeling of building a buzz, moving low key and stacking “lizzy” which is a UK slang term for 50 pound notes. “On Fire” is definitely set to cause some heat in the clubs and introduce listeners to Maleek's extensive musical ear. As if that wasn't enough Maleek invites his fans to celebrate his originality and artistic expression with “Kontrol”, an afropop, party starter.


The hype, melodic record exhibits Berry showing off the impact his roots have always had on his music, with sonic and melodic influences from Nigeria and Ghana, the right formula to make you dance with “Kontrol”!
