Man with vitiligo who was suicidal after being bullied becomes a model

Darius Vernon who grew up shy, spent the past 14 years avoiding women after a chronic skin condition reduced his self esteem. Darius who is from Willesden, North London, suffers from vitiligo - a condition that causes the skin to lose its pigmentation creating white patches on the body. We've seen women who have vitiligo who have become models, Darius has also become a model after being able to overcome his insecurities.

Darius said as a teenager, he was always bullied and made fun of because of his skin condition and that he even considered killing himself at one point.

 

Darius first showed symptoms of vitiligo when he was just 12 years old.

Vitiligo can be caused by stress and after the death of his grandmother, Darius started losing the pigmentation in his hands and then it traveled to the rest of his body.

He said:

'I went to the doctors in 2000 and they diagnosed me with vitiligo. 'I remember holding my mum's hands and squeezing them because the name just sounded so scary.'

He said he was offered cream and makeup to cover the patches but he preferred to hide them with clothes.

Fortunately, he got discovered by model scouts on Instagram and has since been modeling for different brands. Now he is looking to find a partner who is willing to love him with his flaws.

He said:

 'I was handed this physical difference and there were no instructions to go with it - you don't know how to deal with vitiligo.

'I spent years hating myself and the way I looked because of the ignorance of other people - but now I'm proud of who I am."

My detention is scaring away investors- Dasuki

Embattled former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki who is standing trial for the alleged misappropriation of $2.1 billion arms deal fund, says his continued detention despite two approved bail applications which he has fulfilled, is scaring investors from Nigeria. Dasuki said this through his counsel, Joseph Daodu (SAN), at the resumed hearing of his case before Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday March 3rd.


Dasuki through his lawyer urged the court to enforce his bail earlier approved in December 2015.

“How will the government look like at the end of the day? Will investors be confident in this country when court make orders, but they are not obeyed?We cannot be ready for trial until the defendant enjoys his constitutional rights. We apply that we should be given time to prepare the defence. The conduct of the prosecution has not enabled him to enjoy his constitutional rights. The worst is that for about seven weeks we do not know where he is. Any of us here who proceed to defend an accused person in this circumstance may lose his license of practice.”he said

Turtle Taido animation series to run in 53 African countries...

The Animation Series, Adventures of Turtle Taido is set to start showing across 53 African countries. A syndication agreement has been signed between the owners of the program, Tayekeni Productions and Atlantic Pictures to syndicate the series across all African countries, while other language versions of the series will also be produced for distribution. Creator and Executive Producer, of Turtle Taido, Muyiwa Kayode pictured above...

ADVENTURES OF TURTLE TAIDO is the story of a bubbly, lively turtle who travels to different cities on an adventure. On his journeys, he makes friends and learns about different cultures. He also learns about different animals. His special powers enables him get himself and others get out of trouble. His experiences teaches us to understand diversity and live with others in peace and harmony.

Created and Produced by MuyiwaKayode, the educational series launched on Africa Magic Family Channel in July 2015, and has since been running on NTA Network, LTV, Silverbird TV, with plans to air it on other Nigerian channels.

Apparently delighted with this development, MuyiwaKayode says ‘We are excited about this agreement, because our vision is to develop a proudly African animation series and hopefully a popular cartoon character. Beyond that, we want African children to take pride in their cultural identity and understand diversity. It is both entertaining and educational and kids get to learn a lot about places and animals’. 

The series has received positive reviews and was nominated at the Abuja International Film festival, in the Animation Category.

Mitt Romney blasts Donald Trump as a 'fraud' who would lose to Hilary Clinton, Trump fires back

Former GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney has lashed out at Donald Trump and pleaded for fellow Republicans to shun the Republican Party front-runner for the good of country and party.

Mr Romney, who has been a fierce critic of Mr Trump, is expected to warn in his speech on Thursday Morning at the University of Utah, of which excerpts have been obtained and released in advance by The Associated Press that his policies are a threat to the Republican party and to the country as a whole.


 "Here's what I know: Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud," Mr Romney says, according to a leaked transcript of his remarks. "His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University," he is quoted as saying.

Mr Romney will also warn that the nomination of Mr Trump would pave the way to the presidency for Democratic rival Hillary Clinton. But Trump as we have all come to know him for, fired back at Mitt Romney saying Romney ran one of the worst presidential races in history when he contested against Barack Obama and said he was the only one who could beat Hilary Clinton....
