British woman claims she was conned out of £20,000 by a Nigerian gang in online dating scam

A British woman claimed a Nigerian gang posing as an online love interest conned her out of £20k.

56-year-old 'Elizabeth' (not her real name) - appeared on Good Morning Britain yesterday, April 19 to warn people of the dangers of online dating. After thinking she was was dating an engineer from Southampton who had a contract out in Dubai, it turned out to be a scam.

"I was very vulnerable, I had been on my own for a long time and I just wanted to meet someone

'Elizabeth'  met 'Harold' a Norwegian man who had a contract in Dubai, which meant it was difficult to meet up - this turned out to be a lie. After being asked about how he won over her trust, she explained:

"He used to email me and tell me how lovely I was, he would make me feel like any woman would want to."
According to her, love wasn't the only thing on the table.

"He said that I could have a job with him as well, to be quite honest with you".

After initially handing over £3,000, in total she gave the scammers more than £20,000. 'Elizabeth' claims they sent up to 20-30 messages and emails a day and said "they were basically brainwashing me.

Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan pressed the victim more, as it was revealed that 'Elizabeth' was targeted by more than one person in the elaborate hoax.

"I believe they were a gang of Nigerian scammers," said Elizabeth.

When Susanna quizzed her on what the police said, Elizabeth said:

"I didn't really get much from the police, they didn't give me a lot of information. They said there was nothing they could do for me."

Good Morning Britain also revealed the latest figures of 'romance fraud' with victims losing £23.3million in 2015.

A class action lawsuit has been filed in U.S. District Court in San Francisco by a man named Justin Baker-Rhett claiming Kanye fraudulently promised to release his new album, The Life of Pablo, exclusively on Tidal, making him subscribe to Tidal, only for Yeezy to turn around and release it on other streaming services for free.

Justin claims he and millions of others were tricked into subscribing to TIDAL for a minimum of $9.99 a month, giving the struggling streaming service a huge influx of new users and valuable user information.

Justin Baker-Rhett is seeking unspecified damages.

Senate denies buying 109 SUVs, says it only bought 36 SUVs at N36.5m each

The leadership of Nigeria's Senate has denied media reports that it recently took delivery of 109 SUVs, claiming that it only took delivery of 36 Land Cruiser XVR V8 at N36.5 million each.

In an interview with National Assembly correspondents yesterday April 19th, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Senate Services, Senator Ibrahim Gobir, said the reports of the senate spending N4 billion on cars was false and that senators unanimously rejected the proposed loan to purchase their vehicles.

According to him, each SUV will be used by the three senators representing each state.
“We had a close session and they agreed that we should give one car per state. We sat down and agreed on who among the three senators from each state needs the car most and that was what happened. We are supposed to buy 109 cars but because of our sensitivity to the lack of funds, we bought 36. There is no minister that hasn’t got three cars; there is no director that hasn’t got a Land Cruiser and there is no permanent secretary that hasn’t cars"he said
According to Gobir, the funding for the purchase of the 36 cars came from the 2015 budget.

I am Chilaka Stanley Chima and currently the IT manager of Pennisula Hotels, Lekki Peninsula. I want to share my story of how Information technology (IT) has made me to where I am today. In Life, they say some are born lucky while some find their own luck – I’m of the latter having found my by making deliberate decisions that has paved the way and path for the career I now enjoy in IT.

My journey into the world of IT started about 10 years ago. Back then, I looked at the world around me and everybody was talking about IT, companies where deploying IT solutions everywhere and at that moment I saw an opportunity! That was what got me interested. I started out with basic computer training which got me jobs in some small scale firms doing repairs and software installations.

But I wanted more and opted for career in networking as it offered more opportunities, but I nursed a fear of putting my money where I won’t get value for it. So I dillydallied until I heard of Deft-Rains Solutions, and wow, what a choice I made! Deft-Rains shaped and pruned me into a solid networking engineer. I grew from someone who knew only about basic networking of just two computers to one that can now handle a larger network as I now do where I work as the IT manager.

When it comes to IT networking, anybody can go online, download a few videos from YouTube and try to make sense of it but nothing beats live access to real networking scenarios and troubleshooting. Absolutely nothing!  This and the equally important expertly styled hands-on tutoring approach made all the difference.

So, If like me you want to get absolute and prompt return on investment devoid of stories and tap into the abundant opportunities the IT networking world avails, then send program code, your names, qualification, e-mail, gsm and preferred program venue [E.g Cisco, Sam Dani, OND Sociology, samdani@email.com, 080XXXXXXXX, abuja center] to 08061596493 (MTN); 08026699981 (AIRTEL); or 08117343348 (GLO) (sms only) and free brochure of the program will be sent you via e-mail.
