Graphic photos: Update on clearance operations by troops, suspected Boko Haram terrorists arrested, dozens killed

Below is the statement issued today, April 22, by Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, Acting Director Army Public Relations:
In continuation of clearance operations of the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists, troops of 7 Division in Operation Lafiya Dole have been making tremendous progress in their various areas of operational responsibilities.

They were able to carry out clearance operations, raids and patrols that resulted in the killing of so many suspected Boko Haram terrorists, arrests and rescue of persons, as well as recovery of arms and ammunitions.

On Thursday, 21st April 2016, troops of 21 Brigade Nigerian Army carried out clearance operations at Bulari, Tori 1, 2 and 3 during which they successfully cleared the general area of remnants of Boko Haram terrorists.
During the operation, 10 terrorists were killed and one was captured alive. Unfortunately, 2 Civilian JTF accompanying the troops lost their lives. The troops rescued 7 civilians and recovered a Volkswagen Golf car, 15 bicycles and various bags of foodstuffs.

The troops of 22 Brigade on the other hand intercepted 26 persons comprising mostly women and children, coming towards Adah village in Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State, who on interrogation stated that they were held hostage by Boko Haram terrorists, but escaped as their captors were moving towards Lake Chad general area because of troops presence.
Similarly, troops of the same Brigade carried out a fighting patrol, cordon and search operation on Thursday 21st April 2016, along Dikwa-Marte road, Kaje, Selenge, Manekura, Mane Gana and Gawayi villages. Although there wasn’t any encounter with the terrorists, the troops recovered 5 motorcycles, 6 Boko Haram terrorists flags and 4 bags of grinded corn in Mane Gana village. They also rescued 3 women and 5 children at the same village. The rescued persons told the troops that their husbands were actually Boko Haram terrorists who have ran away towards Lake Chad area due to immense pressure from the military clearance operations.

On their part, troops of 3 Battalion also conducted patrol towards Diema, Sigel and Kala in which they had an encounter with Boko Haram terrorists in which the gallant troops killed 8 of them and recovered 2 Dane Guns and 4 assorted batteries.
The troops of 7 Division Special Fighting Forces attached to 25 Task Force Brigade Damboa, at a checkpoint, arrested a suspected Boko Haram terrorist, Abubakar Bello and 6 other suspects carrying 28 gallons of “Turkey” brand of vegetable oil, 8 bags of flour, 130 crates of soft drinks and 2 bags of sugar. In addition, 5 mobile telephone handsets, 1 external hard drive and 5 flash drives, 2 national identity cards and the sum of Seventy Thousand Naira (N70,000.00k) only were recovered from him. Preliminary investigation discovered that the terrorists now dilute the vegetable oil with other substances to produce diesel to power their generators.

The troops of 254 Task Force Battalion in conjunction with vigilantes and Borno Youths Empowerment Scheme (BOYES), also carried out clearance operations at Mufurundi, Kaleri, Masemari, Bego, Bale, Gadzama and Gagantilo villages along Damboa-Bale-Gwoza road. During the operation, the troops encountered and detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), buried by the terrorists at Gadzama village. They also encountered Boko Haram terrorists at Bego where they engaged the terrorists, neutralized them and cleared their camps within the general area. In the encounter, the troops killed 9 Boko Haram terrorists and recovered 1 AK-47 rifle with registration number TH5712 and 17 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition. They also rescued 157 persons held hostages by the terrorists.

The troops of 26 Task Force Brigade stationed in Gwoza yesterday also intercepted 8 suspected Boko Haram terrorists, trying to enter Gwoza town. Though they claimed to be farmers coming from Shiadawey, Takwala and Amdaga Madachi villages respectively, which were known terrorists hideouts, preliminary investigations showed that they were indeed terrorists on a recruitment drive. This was made manifest when the sum of Six Hundred and Thirty Seven Thousand (N637,000.00k) Naira was discovered on Abdullahi Yakubu who was identified by another escapee/suspected Boko Haram terrorist as having trading links with the terrorists while the others were confirmed to have participated in carrying out various terrorists acts for the Boko Haram terrorists group. Similarly, one Ibrahim Bute aged 67 years, of Gobara village was arrested by the troops on suspicion of being a Boko Haram kingpin.

Troops of 114 Task Force Battalion of 28 Task Force Brigade also conducted a fighting patrol along Bitta-Madube-Izge axis same day.
The troops of 117 Task Force Battalion following a tip off, also arrested a suspected Boko Haram terrorist who gave his name as Bello Isah at Mugulvu village. The unit also discovered and retrieved 29 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) rounds of ammunition hidden at a farm in Gella village.
The troops in various deployments within the theatre remain vigilant with soaring morale and committed to their duties of clearing the remnants of the Boko Haram terrorists hiding in various remote corners and crannies.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation

Abia State rides on wings of ‘Ochendo’

orji-gov-abia-state2
Despondency has suddenly given way to optimism in Abia State. Covert feudalism, a subtle political weapon used by the wealthy few to enslave the masses, has now been eroded by egalitarianism. Like the biblical Israelites, the people of Abia State Central Senatorial District are within a touching distance to their long anticipated land of Eldorado, thanks to Senator Theodore Ahamefula Orji’s visionary style of leadership.
For the people of Isialangwa North and South, Osisioma, Ikwuano, Umuahia North and South- the six local government areas that constitute Abia Central Senatorial District- their choice of the man best described as the sage of this generation and as Ochendo by his teeming fans to represent them at the Red chambers of the National Assembly was not just a perfect one but one divinely orchestrated to put them at the forefront of unprecedented development. This was perhaps responsible for the conferment on him with the unique traditional title, Opuru Iche 1 of Igboland, by Abia traditional rulers before a large crowd of grateful Abians.
Of course, if not Ochendo who, during his era as the Governor of Abia State, made scores of Abia indigenes millionaires through genuine empowerment and, in less than seven months as a senator, awarded scholarship to 60 indigent intelligent undergraduate students through a scholarship scheme designed to produce 240 students in four years, and the distribution of 600 bags of rice to the aged ones, indigent widows and the less privileged, the cap would certainly fit no one else in Abia the State.
If that benevolence was a jaw breaking blow to his critics, then the breathtaking event of Saturday 9th April 2016 which witnessed the distribution of 20 2.5KVA generators, 20 sewing machines, 14 motor cycles, eight tricycles, 15 wheel chairs, 20 grinding machines, two 18-Seater buses and 100 fertilizers to various artisans and farmers who were in dire need of them to aid their vocation and farm produce in less than his one year in the National Assembly, has surely made nonsense of the vituperations against him by his critics.
Honestly the moment would not be captured well without the emotion laden speech of one of the beneficiaries, Mr. Samuel Enyeribe from Isialangwa who described the occasion as the restoration of limbs and arms to the physically challenged and given of flesh to the dry bones by a man whose commitment is to the service of God and humanity. while thanking God for giving the people of Abia Central the wisdom to chose Senator Orji as their representative in the NASS, Mr. Enyeribe noted that Ochendo, with these actions, has once again proved that he is not in government for business, but rather for the well being of his people who he has continually shown love since 2007.
In his opening remark at the event which was hosted in Ochendo’s constituency office at Ojike Street, Umuahia, the Abia State capital, the Deputy Chairman, Abia State Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Allen Nwachukwu who bequeathed Sen. Orji with various traditional titles said that his good works to humanity will always locate him. He recalled with excitement how Sen. Orji stood out from the crowd by refusing to undermine the Abia charter of equity in the face of pressure and intimidation by some political hawks in the state even when such decision would have taken his life.

Dencia shows how much Whitenicious makes in 20days on snapchat

As she shared on snapchat! You go, girl!

Can you stomach a ride on this giant 200ft slide?

The Printemps shopping mall in Shanghai has unveiled a giant slide tube that takes customers from the fifth floor to the ground -  a distance of 200ft - in just 16 seconds. The so-called "Dragon Slide" is not without its concerns - it sends people down at such a rate that they are being advised to cross their arms to save themselves from potential injury. Thrill seekers are also wrapped up in bags to avoid scrapes and bruises.

The slide is free to use but at the moment, only for VIPs.
One of the lucky few who has been down it has sounded a note of caution.

The unnamed male shopper said : "I was really scared, because during those bends my hands felt numb. And then I came down; and more than that, I was scared, so how would children feel?"

Singapore's Changi Airport is said to be the inspiration for the feature, boasting its own 12.9-metre tall slide.

The airport boasts other fun features including an enchanted garden, nature trail and rooftop swimming pool.
