Kenneth Omeruo denies reports he wont be fit for next month's Super Eagles' friendlies

Super Eagles of Nigeria and Chelsea player Kenneth Omeruo who is on loan at Kasimpasa is currently nursing a groin injury but has dismissed reports that he won't be playing for the Super Eagles Friendly matches against Mali and Luxembourg next month. He also said his main reason for missing the Olympics in Rio is because his doctors have advised him not to participate as the strain from such a tournament will be too much for him to bear.

“I am happy that I have been called up for the friendly games against Mali and Luxembourg. I am looking forward to putting on the green and white of Nigeria again and giving my 100% to the team,” he told Super Eagles media officer Toyin Ibitoye.
“I am very fit and hope to stay this way for my club and country. “There is no truth in the reports that I am currently sidelined by groin injury.” Omeruo kept on telling Super Eagles media officer Toyin Ibitoye.
“I regret my inability to be part of the Olympic team but as a professional player one has to be guided by the recommendations of experts,” he said.
“My doctors advised that it is best I have a good rest during the off season and they felt participating at the Olympics won’t guarantee that so I had to pull out. In my absence I believe in the abilities of the national U23 team coaches and the players to do the nation proud in Rio.”

6 suspected extremists arrested in northern Italy

MILAN, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Police in northern Italy on Thursday arrested six suspected extremists, including a couple with two children, who allegedly wanted to join militancy inSyria and Iraq, local media reported.
The couple's children, aged two and four, were entrusted to their grandparents after the arrests. The couple were residents of the northern city of Lecco.
Among the arrested was also a resident of the nearby city of Varese, a 23-year-old Moroccan who is the brother of a foreign fighter expelled from Italy last year and allegedly killed in Syria. The arrested Moroccan was set to travel to the conflict zone with the couple, investigators said.
Arrest warrants were also issued for a fugitive couple, 31-year-old Moroccan, Mohamed Koraichi, and his Italian wife, Alice Brignoli, 39, who had changed her name to Aisha after conversion to Islam.
Weeks ago, the family, also residing near Lecco, was reported by Italian media as being missing since last year when Brignoli's mother reported the disappearance to police. Later, investigators found the family had left Italy to join the Islamic State (IS) in Syria.
It emerged from wiretaps that Koraichi had talked in a phone conversation with one of the arrested about planning terror attacks in Italy, namely in Rome, investigators told a press conference in Milan on Thursday.
A relative of Koraichi, who had allegedly put him and his wife in contact with the aspiring jihadists, was also arrested in Thursday's operation.
The arrests took place during joint raids conducted by various police units.
Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and Interior Minister Angelino Alfano praised the operation. "The arrested had evil intentions, they were assessing the possibility of carrying out attacks in Italy," the latter said.
Italy has toughened anti-terrorism measures and expelled dozens of suspects following the deadly attacks in Paris and Brussels.
Based on a law introduced last year, those found guilty of trying to go abroad to join IS or recruiting other foreign fighters face a sentence of up to eight years in jail which increases to up to 10 years for "lone wolves" who train in Italy with the goal of carrying out terror attacks here.

Police appeal for help as US couple on luxury Caribbean boat cruise vanish after disembarking at Jamaican port

  • Hayden Gerson, 33, and Alisha Frank, 32, vanished early Tuesday morning
  • Police believe they had been planning to make a trip to Montego Bay
  • On average, one person every month disappears while on a luxury cruise
Police in Jamaica are trying to locate two Americans who disappeared on Tuesday during a luxury cruise stopover on the Caribbean island.
Hayden Gerson, 33, and Alisha Frank, 32, have not been seen since they disembarked at Falmouth Pier in Trelawny two days ago.
Police believe they were planning to make a trip to Montego Bay - a popular tourist city on the island that features duty-free shopping and golden sand beaches.
It is not known what cruise ship they were travelling on, but Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas was in that port on Tuesday morning and left that evening.

Mr Gerson was wearing light-colored shorts and a grey t-shirt, while Ms Frank was wearing a red skirt and red blouse, according to the Jamaica Observer.
Such disappearances from cruise ships are surprisingly common - on average one person a month goes missing from luxury liners.
While many resurface only hours or days later - and are more often than not hit with Immigration Act charges - some have disappeared entirely.
However, it is clear the reasons for their disappearances vary.
Theories include something sinister has occurred on land, or they may have wanted to vanish, or that they had an accident while at sea.
Cruise Law News reports that in the past four years there have been six passengers who have gone missing in Jamaica, but that all were eventually found safe.
In all those cases the individuals were trying to extend their stay despite the fact that it is illegal for cruise ship passengers.

CRIMES AGAINST AMERICANS IN JAMAICA

Crime has long  been a problem in major Jamaican tourist areas but is largely limited to pick-pocketing. There is also the occasional armed robbery, which can turn violent if the tourist is resistant to hand over their valuables.
A majority of the crime in the country is carried out by gangs.
In 2014, there were five US citizens murdered; 36 reports of robbery; three reports of rape and/or sexual assault; 14 reports aggravated assaults; five reports kidnapping (attempted kidnappings); 10 reports of domestic violence; nine reports of child abuse; and seven other crimes against America tourists.
The number of sexual assaults committed by hotel staff and workers against tourists has decreased in recent years.

Photos: Mom accidentally shot dead by her two-year-old son from backseat as she drove

A toddler riding in the back of a car accidentally shot dead his mother with a gun that slid out from under the driver's seat on Tuesday April 26 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

The 26-year-old victim, Patrice Price, was pronounced dead at the scene, the local sheriff's office said. The child, aged two and a half and identified by local media as a boy, fired the 40-calibre gun through the driver's seat where his mother was at the wheel.
"Initial witness accounts indicate that a child in the backseat of the vehicle got a hold of a gun and discharged the firearm, sending a single bullet into the driver’s back," the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. "The investigation into the death is ongoing."

Local broadcaster WISN quoted the victim's father Andre Price as saying that she was a hardworking mother of three.

"This little girl right here meant everything in the world to me,” Andre Price told the station. And I lost the other half of my heart," Mr Price said.

"Now I don’t have her no more. My chest has been hurting. I have a knot in my chest. They won’t even let me see my daughter. I wanted to hold my daughter for one last time."

The weapon apparently belonged to the victim's security guard boyfriend, with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel newspaper reporting that she was driving his car because hers had been stolen days earlier.

The sheriff's office said that deputies found a security officer's gun belt belonging to the boyfriend on the floor of the front passenger seat. The firearm was recovered on the floor behind the driver's seat.

AP reports that in the vehicle was another of Price's children, aged one, and the woman's mother. Neither of the children was in a car seat. Price's mother told relatives that her daughter turned to her after a loud pop rang out and said:

"Momma, don't let me die," WISN reported.

Following the shooting, fellow motorists stopped and pushed the car out of traffic before police arrived and performed CPR on Price while awaiting the arrival of emergency medical personnel.

Asia Nelson, Price's best friend, told FOX6: "Patrice was one-of-a-kind! She was loving, caring and kindhearted. She always had positive things to say no matter what she was going through."
