Sacked Appropriation committee chairman, Abdulmumin Jibrin, writes on money laundering in the House of Reps

He shared this on his Facebook wall this morning...
There is no better time than now for the EFCC to Revisit the multi billion naira money-laundry allegations in the House of Representatives The money laundry issues has become a pattern over the years in the House.
It is time for the anti-corruption agencies to move in decisively! Speaker Dogara and his internally and external corrupt group have embarked on a very expensive media campaign to damage my reputation, I urge them to rather prepare for their imminent prosecution. No amount of media propaganda, blackmail or intimidation can stop me. They are very bitter because I have turned down a "family resolution" to the crisis.

In Taraba Police, vigilance group recover 142 stolen cows, 26 sheep

The Police, Taraba Command, on Saturday presented to newsmen 142 cows and 26 sheep it recovered from suspected cattle rustlers in Serti, Gashaka Council Area of the state.

The State’s Commissioner of Police, Mr Yakubu Babas, told newsmen in Jalingo that the animals were intercepted in collaboration with Tabital Pulaaku Vigilance Group.
According to him, the police recovered the animals after a gun battle with the suspected cattle rustlers.
“On the receipt of the intelligence information, a team of policemen with vigilantes were drafted to the area.
“On sighting our men, the rustlers engaged them in a shootout but due to the superior power of my men, they took to their heels abandoning 142 cows and 26 sheep.
“The recovered animals are now in police custody and three people have so far identified some of the animals to be their own,” Babas said.
The commissioner advised genuine owners of the animals to visit the command with proof of ownership.
On the allegation of extortion levelled against the vigilance group leader, Shehu Aljan, Babas said the command had requested for proof from the aggrieved persons.
“When I assumed duty as the CP of this state, I was approached with some allegations against Aljan by some people.
“I asked them to officially write to me indicating the alleged offences but as I speak with you, they have not done that.
“Therefore, vigilantes can operate in the state but I have directed that there must always be a policeman attached to them whenever they embark on their operation.
By so doing, they will be guided on the provision of the law as far as security operations are concerned,” the commissioner said.

We never knew Nigeria's economy was this bad- APC National chairman, Oyegun says

APC National chairman John Odigie-Oyegun yesterday said during the election campaigns in 2015, their party knew that things in Nigeria were bad but never knew how bad it was. Oyegun said this while speaking at a surprise birthday party held for him by staff of the APC national secretariat in Abuja yesterday August 12th.
“It has been tough times for the nation. When we were campaigning and it is necessary to continue to hammer on this part, we were not in government.
We knew things were very bad, but we did not know they were as bad as we eventually found them and the revelations that come out everyday continue to buttress that fact. Nobody ever expected the price of crude to collapse in the way it has done and one can only repeat what Mr. President said a few days ago.
That is for being a nation that had an excess crude account, today because of the collapse of the price of crude, a lot of states of this country do not have enough resources to meet their basic functions, responsibilities. That we would never again depend on a single crop whether it is oil, whether it is solid minerals, whether it is agriculture.
The president is laying a single foundation, very solid foundation, for the take-off of this nation such that all the resources that God has endowed this nation with, whether it is in solid minerals that it is plentiful, whether it is in agriculture, we can grow virtually anything in this nation of ours we have been blessed with rich soil.
The Nigeria of tomorrow would be a Nigeria that produces, the Nigeria of tomorrow would be a Nigeria that can give employment to its youth. The Nigeria of the tomorrow would be a nation that would provide plentiful opportunities for its people that is the Nigeria Buhari is presently constructing.”he said

Gov says religion is key to building a peaceful nation

Gov. Adams Oshiomhole of Edo has said that religious gathering is important to building a peaceful and virile nation.

Oshiomhole said this on Saturday in Benin while declaring open the Annual Delegates Conference of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA).
He said that such gatherings were important in building a peaceful, just society, whose citizens and leaders would be guided by the fear of God.
The governor said that this would ensure that policy choices were guided by how they impact on the people.
Oshiomhole said that people should be judged by their actions and not their religious persuasion.
He called on the media to always draw a distinction between religion and criminality.
According to him, ethnicity and prejudice should also not be a basis for identification of criminals, as such leads to unnecessary suspicion which also leads to heightened crisis.
`` We must re-emphasise the teaching of religion at all levels of education so that people can be worthy in both learning and character,’’ he said.
The governor also said that democracy must compel leaders to behave responsibly as well as deal with crisis of inequality by using the instrument of government to restore integrity in schools.
Oshiomhole said that this month, the state would employ islamic teachers to redress the gap between the teachings of both religions.
On the issue of dressing, he said that the state government ``respects the right to dress in acceptable ways of any religion’’.
